I looked at other reviews for this and thought, wow, what did I miss?  This has a lot of five-star reviews and I just didn't feel that it was worth that.  It was good, but there was no real emotion, not in the narration, at least.  All the sentences are quick and clipped short.  Maybe, it’s the way it's written…maybe, it's the narrator.  ???

These characters were so indelible, written as raw and as real as you can get.  They just weren't done justice with the narration.  The story is gritty and in your face with drug addicts, convicts, crooked cops, and a girl…a girl with goals.

Will I read more from this Author?  I don't know…
